MammaGO 2022-2023
MammaGO is a digital game for pregnant women to engage in 150 minutes of weekly physical activity to reduce risks of pregnancy complications for both mother and child, resulting in lower healthcare costs while enabling healthcare provides to support pregnant women in-between consultations.
In 2022 the need for a way to engage pregnant women in physical activity was discovered while the team was doing a clinical immersion at Slagelse Hospital. Midwifes wanted to help the coming mothers to become more active but needed both the tools and ressources to do so.
By interviewing a number of pregnant women the team discovered that many women felt insecure, got insufficient guidance, and were demotivated to get their pulse up. That led to pregnancies with more and unnecessary complications for both women and their children.
The Team

We have professional backgrounds as MD, PhD in Sports Medicine (Christoffer), IT project manager (Line) and MSc in Nanotechnology, Behavioural Design and People Development (Alejandro). We are parents to a total of nine children and with both our professional and parental experience we see a need with a big potential to be solved.
Our Goal
Only 20% of pregnant women reach recommended physical activity levels. We aim to increase it to 60% by targeting women who are willing to exercise, but face barriers to do so, through game features to enhance motivation. We build on studies showing that gamification can significantly increase physical ability levels. It will be part of existing prenatal care and does not require extra resources.
