Pillican

Transforming pill-swallowing into a good and simple experience for kids

The Observation
Pillican was founded because the team identified a common but often overlooked challenge: children frequently struggle to swallow pills when they are sick. This can make taking medication stressful for both children and their parents and may lead to missed doses or difficulties taking medicine as prescribed, which can affect how well the treatment works and potentially prolong or worsen their illness.

The Need
For children, taking medication can be challenging, particularly when they are unwell and already experiencing discomfort. Difficulty swallowing pills can result in children refusing medication, spitting it out, or being unable to take the prescribed dose correctly.
This can have consequences for treatment effectiveness and medicine compliance, while also placing additional stress on parents and healthcare professionals. A simple and child-friendly way to make pills easier to swallow could help ensure that children receive the medication they need, when they need it.

The Solution
Pillican is developing a Class I medical device designed to help children swallow pills when they are sick. The device aims to make pill swallowing easier and less stressful for children, while helping ensure that the prescribed medicine is taken at the correct dose.
With its child-focused approach, we believe Pillican has the potential to improve medicine compliance, support optimal treatment, and make taking medication a more manageable experience for children and their families.
