Project Rosetta 2024-2025
Project Rosetta – decoding pharmaceuticals into a shared language for patients and physicians.
In the clinic and in previous clinical experiences we saw a recurring issue, especially with older patients. Patients describe their medications by characteristics like “the red pill”, “the round one”, “the previous one”, while doctors rely on pharmaceutical names that patients often don’t remember. The standard process around medication review during consultations is very time-consuming and creates friction within the current clinical workflow, which compromises patients’ safety and loss of valuable clinical time.

The Idea
The idea for Project Rosetta came from trying to bridge that critical communication gap and to promote mutual understanding. We create a tool that pulls together key medication data; what was prescribed, what was actually picked up at the pharmacy, and when and bridging the communication gap between HCPs and patients with these. The main driver is to improve the efficiency of day-to-day consultations without adding extra steps or time in the process.
The solution aims to:
- Reduces unnecessary consultations and rescheduling caused by medication confusion
- Improves medication adherence and self-care through better understanding
- Supports early intervention by enabling clinicians to verify adherence more effectively
- Enhances operational efficiency and patient satisfaction in outpatient settings and making telehealth viable for more patients.
Innovation
The core idea is about pulling together scattered sources of data; what was prescribed, what was dispensed, and how can patients recognize them easier, and presenting that in a way that’s useful to both doctors and patients. For clinicians, it helps establish an accurate medication history faster and allows them to bridge the communication gap. For patients, it makes it easier to engage in medication communication, be more proficient in understanding their treatment journey, and answer questions about the medication use and habits during consultations. The emphasis is on integration, not automation, and making what’s already there usable.

Vision
Our long-term goal is to make this tool part of standard practice for medication communication in Denmark. It should be as normal as checking vitals, something that helps clinicians make decisions and helps patients stay on track with treatment. Ideally, it should plug into existing systems without friction across healthcare sectors.
The Team
The project was shaped by close collaboration between clinical and non-clinical team members. That mix helped us move quickly from observing a problem to building something usable, with real input from users along the way. It was critical to have both clinical insight and technical execution in the same room throughout.
