Solemate 2024-2025

Solemate is a self-care app designed to support daily foot checks and care through behavioural nudging, education, and structured routines.

The project was inspired by our observations at Hjørring Hospital and later in Hjørring Homecare. We learned that check for, and information about, diabetic foot ulcers was underprioritized in consultations, and that treatment of diabetic foot ulcers was costly and time consuming in the Hjørring Homecare team.

During our observations we followed staff in their everyday tasks. Here Malthe is observing the Endocrinology outpatient clinic.

How the Idea Developed

Through clinical observations, user and expert interviews, iterative ideation and co-creation, the team developed a concept for a mobile app that empowers patients with knowledge, resources, and support to manage self foot care with confidence. The app helps the patient prevent ulcers and reduce incidences needing healthcare professionals, hospitalizations, and amputations.

While framing our need we hosted a co-creation workshop with staff from the hospital, municipality, and a general practitioners clinic.

The Team

The project was strengthened by the close collaboration in our team that included clinical-, design-, technical-, and business skills, which ensured both clinical relevance and user-centered design.
